Case Study: IPMAAS
What is IPMAAS
IPMAAS stands for Intelligent Predictive Maintenance as a Service.
This is a proof of concept project for the Landmark subsidiary of Halliburton. With the goal of integrating sensors utilizing Edge technology with drone technology to able to preemptively address issues therefore preventing production stoppages, increased personnel cost, and increasing efficiency.
Problem Statement
The client an Oil and Gas service provider manages multiple vast properties and oil fields. Most of these properties are in remote locations. At these locations a myriad of sensors are used to gauge the status of equipment. However most maintenance is done by human actors and reactively. For example if a part breaks, halting production only then will a person be sent to diagnose and rectify the issue. This is where the IPMAAS projects aims to improve efficacy.
How
The IPMAAS project incorporates three major major components. Information from sensors which are already installed in the field. The application interface, and the design of UAS vehicle to detect and transmit information back to the appropriate location.
The application is based around a dashboard concept. Where after logging in the user can see all locations and equipment maintenance they are responsible for. An alert will be raised if there is an existing issue or the potential for an issue to occur. From this dashboard the user can follow a path to schedule a maintenance crew with the exact information of what is wrong and what exactly needs to be done for the repairs.
The final component being a UAS drone that can traverse the long distances of these remote properties to detect and transmit sensor information to the appropriate resources to address any concerns.
This projects aims to help integrate a long established industry with new and innovative technologies to be better informed on their processes and the opportunity to proactively attend to issues before they become issues tha affect productivity.
